Transpoesie - Poets

Catherine Wilson is an Edinburgh-based poet and writer. Her writing has been featured by institutions including the British National Gallery, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Scotland News, Forth Radio, STV, BBC Radio 4 and StAnza Poetry Festival. 

She has spoken at two of University of Edinburgh's TEDx conferences and organised the first non-American team to compete in America’s national competition C.U.P.S.I. in Austin in 2016. In 2015 she received the Vaclav Havel Scholarship from Western Michigan University and the Anglo-American University in Prague.

In March 2016, her video "Facts" was the most successful video on the BBC Radio Scotland Facebook, with over 500,000 total views. For the BBC she has also been commissioned for programmes including: “Thought for the Day”, “Front Row”, “The Ricky Ross Show” and “Winter Weekends with Edie Stark”.

She was one of the organisers of the University of Edinburgh's open mic "Soapbox" and also ran the largest free slam in Scotland.

Catherine is known for her reflections on the everyday, blended with a sense of humour and solemn questions about the big things in life. Her proudest moment was when her poetry won her a rubber duck at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015.

Catherine Wilson est une auteure poète basée à Edimbourg. Ses œuvres ont été présentées par plusieurs institutions y compris la British National Gallery, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Scotland News, Forth Radio, STV, BBC Radio 4 et le festival de poésie StAnza. 

Elle a présenté des discours dans deux des conférences TEDx de l’université d’Edimbourg, et organisé la première équipe non-américaine qui participait à la compétition C.U.P.S.I. à Austin au Texas, en 2016.  En 2015 elle a reçu la Bourse Vaclav Havel de l’université Western Michigan et de l’université anglo-américaine à Prague. 

En mars 2016, sa vidéo intitulée « Facts » était la vidéo avec le plus de succès sur la page Facebook de BBC Scotland, avec un total de plus de 500,000 vues.  Pour la BBC, elle a aussi été consultée pour des programmes, dont notamment : “Thought for the Day”, “Front Row”, “The Ricky Ross Show” and “Winter Weekends with Edie Stark”.

Catherine a été une des organisatrices de l’Open Mic « caisse à savon » de l’université d’Edimbourg et a aussi organisé le plus grand Slam gratuit d’Ecosse. 

Elle est reconnue pour ses réflexions sur le quotidien, mélangé avec un sens de l’humour and des questions solennelles sur les grandes choses de la vie.  Son moment de fierté était quand ses poèmes lui ont remporté un « rubber duck » au festival Fringe d’Edimbourg en 2015.

Catherine is vooral bekend voor haar beschouwingen over het dagelijkse leven, een mengsel van humor en ernstige vragen over de belangrijke zaken in het leven. Ze was heel fier toen ze in 2015 op de Edinburgh Fringe de rubber eend won voor haar gedichten.
