Transpoesie - Poets

Radu Vancu (1978, Sibiu, Romania) is a poet, literary critic and translator. He teaches contemporary Romanian poetry at the Faculty of Letters and Arts in Sibiu and also works as an editor of Poesis internaţional and Transilvania.

He has published five collections of poetry: Epistole pentru Camelia (Epistles for Camelia, 2002), Biographia litteraria (2006), Monstrul fericit (The Happy Monster, 2009), Sebastian în vis (Sebastian in Dream, 2010) Amintiri pentru tatăl meu (Memories for my Father, 2010) and  Frânghia înflorită (Rope flowering) at Max Blecher publishing house in 2012.

He has also published two essays on the works of two of the foremost contemporary Romanian poets: Mircea Ivănescu. Poezia discreţiei absolute (Mircea Ivănescu. The Poetry of Absolute Discretion, 2007) and Eminescu. Trei eseuri (Eminescu. Three Essays, 2011).
He is also the co-author, with Claudiu Komartin, of the anthology Cele mai frumoase poeme din 2010 (The most beautiful poems of 2010), collecting the best poems published in Romanian during 2010.

Radu Vancu has translated several novels and poetry from English, French and German. He is currently preparing a Romanian version of John Berryman’s Dream Songs. His poems have been translated into several languages and selected in many international anthologies.
