The 8th TRANSPOESIE poetry festival takes place from September 26 until October 11.”

We are glad to announce that  24 countries and regions will be represented with a poem this year and 21 poets will attend the festival!

So save the date! Four major events are scheduled:

 

  • 26 September 2018, 8PM – BOZAR - Poetry reading

Linked to the European Day of Languages, the opening of TRANSPOESIE at BOZAR will spotlight five young and talented female voices: Ann Cotten (Austria), Olga Pek (Czech Republic), Maria Eloy-Garcia (Andalusia, Spain), Christina Hagen (Denmark) and Simona Atangana Bekono (The Netherlands).

 

  • 27 September 2018, 12:15-14:00 – European Commission, Charlemagne building - Conference

Organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, in cooperation with the Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity and EUNIC Brussels, the conference will focus on multilingual education and cultural expression. Participants will be able to take part in a discussion about policy and practice, enjoy poetry, music and pictures and discover an exhibition presenting some lesser-known languages spoken in the European Union.

  • 4 October 2018, 8 PM – MuntPunt - Poetry reading

The MuntPunt Library is hosting the festival for a unique evening with a reading by the poets in their original languages (and translations) by Juanjo Olasagarre (Basque Country, Spain), Vónbjørt Vang (The Faroes), Madara Gruntmane (Latvia), Tom Nisse (Luxemburg), Jakub Kornhauser (Poland), Ștefan Manasia (Romania), Stanka Hrastelj (Slovenia) and Kaan Murat Yanık (Turkey).

 

  • 11 October 2018, 8 PM – Balassi Institute - Poetry reading

The closing ceremony and final event of the festival will be held at the Balassi Institute, Cultural Service of the Hungarian Embassy in Brussels, in the presence of Dóra Gabriella Sós (Hungary), Tahel Frosh (Israel), Inderk Koff (Estonia), Dimitri Lyacos (Greece), Pivinnguaq Mørch (Greenland), Pedro Mexia (Portugal) and Catherine Wilson (Scotland).
