[My father said]

My father said: Your brother shaved before his beard started to grow

Your brother saw the terrorist’s face in the mirror

and wanted a flat iron for Christmas

My brother said: Some day I want to die in a country

where people can pronounce my name

Mon père disait: Ton frère se rasait avant que sa barbe commence à pousser

Ton frère a vu le visage d’un terroriste dans le miroir

et a voulu un lisseur pour Noël

Mon frère disait: Un jour j’aimerais mourir dans un pays

où les habitants arrivent à prononcer mon nom

Mijn vader zei: Je broer scheerde zich al voor hij baardgroei had

Je broer zag het hoofd van de terrorist in de spiegel

en wilde een krultang voor Kerstmis 

Mijn broer zei: Ooit wil ik sterven in een land

waar ze mijn naam kunnen uitspreken
