Gillian Clarke was born in Cardiff, Wales. She is a poet, playwright, editor, translator (from Welsh), President of Tŷ Newydd, the Welsh Writers Centre which she co-founded in 1990. She has published ten collections of poems and a book of prose, At the Source. Her latest poetry collection, Ice, was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Award, 2012. In 2010 she was awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry.

Gillian Clarke est née à Cardiff, pays de Galles. Elle est poète, dramaturge, rédactrice, traductrice et Présidente du Tŷ Newydd, le centre des écrivains gallois qu’elle a cofondé en 1990. Gillian Clarke a publié dix volumes de poésie et un ouvrage de prose – At the Source. Sa récente collection de poésies, Ice, a été présélectionnée pour le prix TS Eliot en 2012. Zij is dichteres, toneelschrijfster, redactrice, vertaalster (uit Welsh/Kymrisch) en voorzitster van Tŷ Newydd, het centrum voor Welshe schrijvers die zij mede heeft opgericht in 1990. Zij heeft 10 gedichten collecties gepubliceerd en een proza boek – At the Source. Haar nieuwste gedichtenbundel, Ice, werd voor de TS Award 2012 genomineerd.
