Tá 8 leabhar don aos óg scríofa ag Máire Zepf, ina measc pictiúr-leabhair do na léitheoirí is óige, úrscéalta staire agus anois ‘Nóinín’ - an chéad úrscéal véarsaíochta sa Ghaeilge do dhéagóirí. Chruthaigh sí sraith faoi charachtar bríomhar d’arbh ainm ‘Rita’ (An tSnáthaid Mhór) le maisitheoir Andrew Whitson. I 2015, d’fhoilsigh Futa Fata ‘Ná Gabh ar Scoil!’ maisithe ag Tarsila Kruse. Tá an leabhar sin aistrithe anois go seacht dteanga ar fud an domhain agus bhuaigh sé duais Gradam Leabhar na Bliana de chuid Chumann Litearthachta na hÉireann agus Gradam IBBY. Tá duais ficsean an Oireachtais bainte aici faoi dhó (do ‘Lá Leis na Lochlannaigh’ i 2015 agus do ‘Nóinín’ i 2018). Is aistritheoir í Máire chomh maith atá leabhair de chuid Oliver Jeffers, Malachy Doyle agus Torben Kuhlmann aistrithe go Gaeilge aici ón Bhéarla agus ón Ghearmáinis.

Ceapadh Máire mar an chéad Comhalta le Scríbhneoireacht Páistí i dTuaisceart na hÉireann (2017-2019).  Bíonn sí gnóthach ag reachtáil ceardlanna do pháistí bunaithe ar a cuid leabhar - ag féilte litríochta, i scoileanna agus i leabharlanna ar fud na tíre.

Máire Zepf is the author of 8 books for young people. She has written picture books, historical fiction and now the first verse-novel in the Irish language, ‘Nóinín’- aimed at young adults. Together with illustrator Andrew Whitson, she created a picture book series based on the character ‘Rita’. Her picture book with illustrator Tarsila Kruse ‘Ná Gabh ar Scoil!’ has been translated to 7 different languages, including English as ‘Don’t Go to School!’ and has been awarded an IBBY Honour Award and a Children’s Book Award from the Literacy Association of Ireland. Máire is a two-time winner of the Oireachtas Award for fiction for ‘Lá Leis na Lochlannaigh’ and ‘Nóinín’. Máire has also translated books by Oliver Jeffers, Malachy Doyle and Torben Kuhlmann to Irish, from German and English.

Máire was appointed the first ever Children’s Writing Fellow for Northern Ireland (2017-2019), based at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry in Belfast.  As well as writing, she is a practitioner of children’s creative writing, reading and literary engagement workshops.

Máire Zepf est l'auteur de 8 livres pour la jeunesse. Elle a écrit des livres d'images, des romans historiques et maintenant le premier roman en vers en langue irlandaise,'Nóinín', destiné aux jeunes adultes. Avec l'illustrateur Andrew Whitson, elle a créé une série de livres d'images basés sur le personnage 'Rita';. Son livre d'images avec l'illustratrice Tarsila Kruse 'Ná Gabh ar Scoil'; a été traduit en 7 langues différentes, y compris en anglais sous le titre 'Don't Go to School'; et a reçu un IBBY Honour Award et un Children's Book Award de l’association Littéraire d’Irlande. Máire a remporté à deux reprises le Prix Oireachtas de fiction pour 'Lá Leis na Lochlannaigh'  et 'Nóinín'. Máire a également traduit des livres d'Oliver Jeffers, Malachy Doyle et Torben Kuhlmann en irlandais, en allemand et en anglais.

Máire a été nommée première boursière d'écriture pour enfants en Irlande du Nord (2017-2019), basée au centre de Poésie Seamus Heaney à Belfast. En plus d'écrire, elle est praticienne de l'écriture créative, de lecture et d’ateliers d'écriture pour les enfants.

Máire Zepf heeft acht jeugdboeken geschreven, waaronder prentenboeken voor de jongste lezers en historische romans voor tieners. Haar meest recente werk is Nóinín, de eerste dichtroman voor jongeren in de Ierse taal. Eerder ontwikkelde ze in samenwerking met illustrator Andrew Whitson de prentenboekenserie Rita en in 2015 publiceerde de Ierse uitgeverij Futa Fata het kinderboek Ná Gabh ar Scoil!, geïllustreerd door Tarsila Krüse. Dat laatste boek werd vertaald in zeven talen en sleepte een IBBY Award en een kinderboekenprijs van de Literacy Association of Ireland (LAI) in de wacht. Máire heeft tweemaal een Oireachtas-literatuurprijs gewonnen, in 2015 voor Lá Leis na Lochlannaigh en in 2018 voor Nóinín. Máire heeft boeken van Oliver Jeffers, Malachy Doyle en Torben Kuhlmann uit het Engels en het Duits in het Iers vertaald. Ze werd in Noord-Ierland als eerste officiële regionale kinderboekenschrijver aangesteld (voor de periode 2017-2019) en geeft kinderen les in creatief schrijven op scholen, in bibliotheken en op literaire evenementen door heel Ierland.
