10 October 2019 | 7 PM | Hungarian Cultural Institute - MEET THE POETS – #3”

The Hungarian Cultural Institute, partner from the beginning of the festival, opens its doors to the third poetry-reading event of 2019. The scene will vibrate from the different languages and fresh poetry from all corners of Europe. 

4 different voices, ideas and attitudes toward life will collide, giving you the chance to discover five European cultures trough poetry. The event offers the possibility to plunge into the rhythm of Hungarian, Spanish and Slovenian while the translation in English will be screened on the historic wall of the city of Brussels!

Experience a veritable Babelian evening with:

  • Gábor ZSILLE poet, translator, publicist, and editor has received József Attila Prize, the most importan literary award of Hungary. His works have been published in 72 lyrical and prose anthologies and as editor he worked on 55 volumes. He translated 4 volumes from English, and 19 from Polish.
  • the Portuguese Jorge VILHENA MESQUITA  was born in Porto in 1960. Living in Brussels since 1985, he is one of the founders of the poetry and translation magazine DiVersos, in which he has published poems and poetry translations (among others Petrarch, Shakespeare and Nietzsche). He has published three books: "O Sentimento da Ausência" (2005), "Vida Adentro" (2010) and "Retorno e Fuga" (2017).
  • Jure JAKOB from Slovenia works in Ljubljana as a freelance cultural worker.He has published five poetry collections receiving the zlata ptica Award (2004) for outstanding young slovenian artists, the Kritiško sito Award (2016) for the best literary work of the year, and the Prešeren fund Award (2019), a prominent slovenian award for artists.
  • Raquel LANSEROS, poet, translator, anthologist and professor is one of the most awarded and recognized voices of contemporary poetry in Spain. She was chosen the most relevant Spanish-language female poet born after 1970. Her poetic work until the year 2016 was fully collected in one volume, partially translated into many languages, awarded major poetry prizes and included in numerous anthologies and literary publications all around the world.
