Borbála KULIN was born in 1979 in Budapest. She is a literary critic, editor and poet. She graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University with a degree in Latin Language and Literature and Hungarian Language and Literature. She finished her PhD in 2015 at the University of Debrecen as a literary critic. She is the editor in chief of "A Vörös Postakocsi" literary magazine since 2009. Currently she lives in Debrecen.

Dewi DE NIJS BIK (1990) is a poet who lives in Amsterdam. This year the Arbeiderspers published her first collection, Indolente (‘Indolent’), in which she writes about subjects that range from food and oysters to historiography, searching for language and a form that makes our shared past tangible. Her writing has also appeared in literary magazines such as DW B, Poëziekrant and nY, and in audio form on DIGOpium and Nooit meer slapen. De Nijs Bik performs regularly at a range of Dutch and Belgian venues. She wrote articles and interviews for the Indies monthly Moesson for ten years and has worked as an editor at Amsterdam’s Perdu poetry venue. In 2018 she participated in deBuren’s Paris residence.

Natalia MALEK is a Polish poet, translator and literature curator. She has published five collections of poetry, most recently Brinks (2022). Carapace, her fourth collection of poetry, won the 2021 Gdynia Literary Prize; Chord, her third collection of poetry, received the 2017 Adam Włodek Award for Emerging Writers. Her books have been shortlisted for major literary prizes in Poland including the Wisława Szymborska Award, Wrocław Poetry Prize and Nike Literary Award. A graduate of English Studies at the University of Warsaw, she translates poetry, among others, by Louise Glück, Tyrone Williams, Sandra Cisneros, as well as art writing and criticism. Malek has been curating the international Spoken Word Festival Warsaw since 2015 and Poems in the City, poetry in public space festival, since 2021. Her poems have been widely anthologized and translated into more than ten languages. She teaches creative writing and is particularly interested in the intersections of poetry and visual arts.

Alina PURCARU  (born in 1982) is a writer and literary journalist. She graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Bucharest and has published three volumes of poems: resistance (Cartea Românească,  2016),  Indigo (Tracus Arte, 2018) and More and More Splendor (Cartier, 2022). She is also the author of two picture books: Catrina and The Great Mr. Sleep (Catrina şi Marele Domn Somn, Cartier, 2017) and An Unicorn in The Museum of Bones (Un unicorn în muzeul de oase, Cartier, 2019), both of them illustrated by Mihaela Paraschivu. She is also co-author of the collective novel Rubik (Polirom, 2008) and the coordinating editor of several anthologies.

Lucija STUPICA, ever since her first book of poetry published in 2001, has been one of the most important contemporary Slovenian poets, whose work has been awarded several prizes, including two international ones, also featuring in numerous anthologies. Her poetry seeks closeness to the sea with an island as a recurrent motif, therefore it is no coincidence she moved to the islet of Oaxen in the Stockholm Archipelago in 2012, while recently making the capital of Sweden her home. There, she has written poems which, according to some critics, “breathe, speak, and look the reader straight in the eye without diverting their gaze for a single second”. Vanishing Points (Točke izginjanja, LUD Literatura, Ljubljana 2019), Stupica’s fourth collection of poetry, nominated for both Slovenia’s highest poetry prizes, not only depicts her own role in the world, but also that of women as the hidden agents of history.

The discussion will be moderated by Vanessa Daniëls.
