Kalatxoriak
Beren maitasunak errepasatzeko,
hiriko kalatxoriak
arratsero biltzen dira estazio aurrean;
Beren memoria liburuan
sandalo lore batez seinalatzen da
zubien eta
lapur zahartuen orrialdea.
Eta on derizkiete
teilatu pitzatuei ere,
merkatu alboko hondakinei;
Baina beren ekilibrista bihotzek
zer maite dezakete
gehien gehien;
Zer,
egunen mudapen
amaiezina ezpada;
Zer,
egunen mudapen
infinitoa baino gehiago.
Seagulls
Every evening
the city seagulls
gather in front of the station
to mull over their loves.
In their scrapbook
two sandalwood flowers:
one marks the page of bridges,
the other the page of thieves.
They like the cracked roofs
and the scraps from the market.
But what their little hearts
- their acrobats' hearts -
care for most
is the unending passage of the days
with their infinite changes.

Las gaviotas
Todas las tardes
se reúnen las gaviotas
frente a la estación del tren:
Allí repasan sus amores.
En su libro de memorias
dos flores de sándalo:
una señala la página de los puentes,
otra la de los suicidas.
Y también guardan una fotografía
del mendigo que, hace tiempo, transportaba
los despojos del mercado.
Pero su pequeño corazón
-que es el de los equilibristas-
por nada suspira tanto
como por esa lluvia tonta
que casi siempre trae el viento,
que casi siempre trae el sol.
Por nada suspira tanto
como por el inacabable
(cabalé, cabalá),
continuo mudar
del cielo y de los días.
